Project Description

Straka Construction & Earthmoving LTD works extensively in the earthmoving field. We can transform properties and move bulk materials, with machinery ranging in size from 5 tonne excavators up to over 20 tonnes, and all the trucks to match.

OUR SCOPE OF WORKS.

Our excavation services can move anything from a few cubes of dirt, through to full site works and landscaping services. We have trucks on hand to cart away or move dirt, topsoil, clay, metal, bark, or anything else that may need to be brought in, out, or pushed around. We can carve new driveways and access ways for you so you can reach your property at all times of the year for those in rural properties, and we can cater to and customise virtually anything.

TRENCHES – POWER, TELEPHONE, WATER, ETC

Trenching is a brilliant alternative to power lines or telephone cables up in the air, especially if you are not right by the road. It cuts out the worry of tree branches falling and cutting off your power, and also makes a property look a lot tidier and neater. Our trenches are customised to suit your service needs and specifications. They are back-filled to spec, with either sand, scoria or any other allowed material as required by the service provider, and photographed for your peace of mind and reference.

ACCESS EARTHWORKS.

If you have a property that is hard to navigate in winter, or any time of the year, we can create roads and shift materials to create a far more user-friendly property. If you live in a rural zone, ancillary farm works don’t even require consent prior to starting. Regardless of whether your job is big or small, you can rest assured that we will maintain our impeccable environmental standard and protect your streams, bush or any other factors from hazards like run-off.

SITE PREPARATION.

The most common form of earthworks is site preparation. This usually involves cutting waste materials like clay, and either carting them away or filling them in other areas to a certain compaction, as specified by engineers or geotechnical experts. This leaves you with a perfectly level house or building platform.

EARTH BUNDS & PRIVACY SCREENS

Another fantastic use for moving dirt – create a high point in front of your house or by the road to shield your property’s privacy. Our earth bunds are smoothed and usually planted, so it is a seamless landscape that creates a feeling of personal space. It is also a great way to stop dirt or pollen blowing in from metal roads or nearby forests, saving you on a lot of cleaning during the year.

DRAINAGE

Draining is a big thing for the North Island. As we have a lot of contoured land and high rainfall, sometimes the water doesn’t go where it needs to, and you’re left with mushy ground or flooded paddocks or yards. Minor earthwork alterations can shape the lay of the land, sometimes even changing it by just a few degrees that are almost unnoticeable to the eye, so that the water runs to the proper collection or drainage points, whether rural or residential. We can also work with under channel drains, where water is directed beneath the ground and drained away.
